Would those who have images in PhotoBucket be prepared to download the relevant albums and share on DropBox as a temporary measure?

I believe you can still download the images from photobucket, just like dropbox at this time.

Hello everyone, I really do not want to see this forum die and its invaluable information be lost.

Maybe, we should start beginning to think about having a proper hosting for the forum and then host the images ourselves. I am experienced with this and am willing to do it for the community. Also I would happily participate in the cost.

As a temporary measure, I have a website with lots of available storage, I would gladly host the images of the pinned articles as a start. Sator, if you see this message, please let me know what you think of it.

The company who produce this forum have an option to store media, I believe Sator pays a considerable amount of money for this forum.  All that is needed is a safe and freely accessible photo cloud.  The "sister" site set up on quite different, more relaxed rules has similar storage issues, it was set up when C&T last went down.  Between a few of us we have a lot of images stored locally which were mined from Sator's photobucket, as time permits it might be possible to continue that work.  Maybe Hutch might have some ideas.

Tom,

I think it should be possible to do it pretty quickly with a bit of code, depending on what database underlies this site. It's something I'd be happy to do - I spent many years running an online business which largely relied on my manipulating data directly in the DB so well placed.

Carry on, I'm a tailor not a coder!  :Praying: And before a sound engineer.  I suppose you would need to contact the host company.

Both forums, lets face it, are contemporarily unique and are significant to a needed craft. Anything that can be done to sustain and preserve all the previous work is worthwhile. Thank you very much all able to do so.

I've now got all the images from Schniederfrie's photobucket and will have Sator's shortly. I'll see if I can put them up somewhere in a vaguely useful format!

You are doing a great service.  I doubt that Schneidergott would mind if you did his either.

Thanks all. It seems that the system I'm using to download them isn't picking up everything but I hope I can sort it without too much hassle.

Sator, Schneidergott, Schneiderfrei - might I ask you each to message me if there are any albums on your photobucket account which aren't relevant to this forum please? I appreciate this may take you a bit of time but it would be very much appreciated as it limits the number of pages I have to code plus it'll avoid overloading readers with extraneous/irrelevant content. Thank you!!!

All.

Proof of concept at https://s3.eu-west-2...o/New/Jukes.htm. I'm afraid this is 'down and dirty' super-ugly HTML at it's 1990s worst but hopefully an acceptable starter for 10.

The test page hosts the images from Jukes' coat making thread (http://www.cutterand...p?showtopic=854) as the folder size was perfect for a trial. I am uploading images in the same folder format as they were on the original uploader's Photobucket account - that way they're locatable. For example:

s201.photobucket.com/user/Satorarepo/library/New/Jukes?sort=3&page=1
http://s201.photobuc...s?sort=3&page=1

becomes

s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/cutterandtailorimages/Satorarepo/New/Jukes.htm

https://s3.eu-west-2...o/New/Jukes.htm

To find the original location:
Click on the original image to bring it up as a pop-up:

Attached File  Locate_A1.jpg   30.15KB   1 downloads

Click the 'Save' button:

Attached File  Locate_1.jpg   29.94KB   0 downloads

Identify the original location from the address bar:
Attached File  Locate_2.jpg   25.33KB   0 downloads

A further 2,500 images from Sator's photobucket album 'New 2' now up as follows (I have split them across various pages to reduce the size and thus loading time to something vaguely reasonable):

Thanks ingn2,

It is certainly a relief to see the images are available.  It is not the same as seeing them in context within the discussions, which is sad, but the prohibitive costs of the hosting websites are worse.

Thank you so much ingn2 for this !!

If I may, I have a problem with some images (about 60-70% of them) as they get all distorted when I try to save them. For example, this picture I am trying to save for inspiration.

Have you met this problem before? Any idea on how to solve it?

I have seen that, but not for ages.

In the resolution section you must have, somewhere in the chain, on direction set to say 200 and the other to only say 75.  When you click save, check if there are any settings in your system page.

Hope that helps.
