I'm planning on putting a Daks top on my current trouser project... I've had a look around the forum and found some useful pointers, but I have an idea about the interfacing of the waistband I'd like some feedback on.
It's not really discussed explicitly anywhere, but I get the impression that the usual approach is to handle the waistband interfacing as per a normal waistband, so the elastic runs on the outside of the interfacing, between the interfacing and the fabric of the "tunnel". I'm wondering if it might be a better idea to do the interfacing in sections, so that the elastic can run inside the interfacing inside the tunnel. I think this should give a cleaner finish, as the tunnel will wrap directly over the interfacing with nothing in between. (I plan on using some light linen canvas rather than Banrol this time, as I want to make the waistband a bit wider than usual.)
What does everybody think? Are there any obvious problems I've overlooked? Is it not worth the trouble?
