This comes from a 1950/60s salesman's training manual. However, I thought it was a very useful and succinct summary. It is a little dated in that I don't think gabardines are usually made waterproof like they used to be - correct me if I am wrong. However, the point they make about wool "quality" remains as true today as it was then - perhaps even truer. The term "quality" has been mistakenly taken to have something to do with the good vs bad "quality" of a wool. This misunderstanding of terminology has lead people to believe that if 64s are a higher quality that 100s, 150s, or even 200s and beyond are better still.

Thanks for this article. I would like to ask a question: I would like to know the english name of a fabric that is called 'Cadí' in spanish. Is the fabric used for formal waistcoats. It is plain and matt on the front side, and patterned and slightly shiny on the back side, and drapes well.
