In January 2018 I have been to Dublin for an exhibition with two friends, both tailors. We had a day free and with me the Lonely Planet guide. One of the things to do, it said, was to go in Back Lane to see the building of the tailor's hall.  The tailor'guild do not exist any more, and   they are renovating the building, now property of other companies. When we arrived there, we found the workers, and kindly asked information, telling them we were tailors, interested to have a quick look to the property. We found a very special man that invited us to make a quick tour and told us the story.  We had a chance to visit the rooms, starting from the basement, where the kitchens were.

During the meeting they used to eat, and discuss together. After we went to ground floor into the meeting room.

This have a  wall with all the names of the Masters of the Merchant Tailor Guild  from 1464 to 1840!

Obviously we tried to see if there was any Italian tailor on the list, as we are everywhere in the world, but we could only find John Porte (1726) that could be of Italian origin, but not so shoure.

Then the worker told us a the story of Wolf Tone.To be honest, we never heard about this gentleman, and the worker, demonstrating a certain acknowledging of history,  compare him to Garibaldi (we are Italians ). He described him as an Irish hero, organizing the Catholic parliament in 1792! And the secret meetings were organized in a secret room, behind the balcony were musicians were attending the meeting of tailors!!
Very long tradition of our Guild and we are revolutionary  in lives, in different filds!
Proud to be tailors!

P.S. sorry for the pictures, I am not a very good photografer
