I think commercial is the wrong word, if it was,nt for their forward thinking, (which the others followed) the Row would not have survived.

Soft Cloth for my first bespoke suit and other concerns, did I make a good choice?

But by having all these outlets Henry Poole looses its charm and instead of being a small firm with a very well personal approach becomes a company on a large scale. I am not saying this is bad but I feel like something is being lost in the process.

Saville Row, always has and always will set the standard for top quality tailoring. It,s part of the British heritage. Everyone else copied them in the past and then moved on to create their own style.
I would rather have it in it,s present form, than not at all.

Many Savile Row tailoring houses used to have "outlets" in several cities in England, to answer the needs of military, naval or student customers, for examples.
Poole opening outlets can be considered as the logical declination of this tradition in a globalized world.

excuse me for commenting rather late.
didnt your mother tell you to keep your elbows off the table?
thus no elbow shine.
a soft cloth has a shorter life. it wears out fast.
a hard finish wears longer. and need not be heavy.
