Aloha Forum!

I'm starting to run into a problem, I can't find well designed, off the shelf, "tiki" fabric. As a designer I'm sure I can design some cool custom artwork but I have no clued where to get it printed. I used spoonflower dot com but I wasn't happy with the results and they aint cheap. Anyone know of a good place online or local (I'm in SoCal) where I can get a few yards at a time printed without breaking the bank?

I'm thinking you might want to look for a source in Korea.

 

Have you explored Etsy as you just need a few yards at a time? I searched for "tropical fabric by the yard" and "custom print fabric by the yard". Lots of choices both ways with pricing all over the place.

Someone at school recommended cad fab digital when I asked about printing my own fabric design. I haven't used their services yet but they are in Downtown Los Angeles, worth checking out if you're near. On their website they have a variety of printable fabrics as well as a library of their designs to choose from.

I've bought some remnants on Etsy, actually got a couple yards of vintage fabric, but I really want to print some original one-of-a-kinds.

What kind of fabric are you looking to have printed? Many of the businesses I found will only print on their own supply of fabrics, which is frustrating if they don't offer what you need.

Maholo guys/gals for the 411.

I will look into the suggestions in DTLA, overseas and UK. I do not need much fabric printed at the moment (which is part of the problem with pricing).

 

Umsie, Right now, I need good light and medium weight cotton for tropical attire; In the future, some lightweight natural fabric for linings. I will keep hunting until I find a good quality/price solution. Sorry to hear about your links getting hosed, that really blows.

How much are you looking to spend?

Really depends on the project's budget...

Several 20 dollar a yard options online, something around 1/2 that sounds about right.
