I came across this site the other day - Jalou - it's a French magazine publisher which has very graciously put hundreds of archive issues of its magazines online, for FREE (take that, Vogue archive). There are thousands and thousands of wonderful images of women's clothing, particularly in the L'Officiel archives from 1921 to 2011, and L'Art et La Mode from 1883 to 1965.

I found this in a 1956 issue of L'Officiel. It is NOT a good representation of the treasures to be found within, but it made me laugh!

I presently work at Yardage Town the only fabric store in San Diego (California, USA) county that sells apparel cloth. Learning to respect ALL cloth, be it $1/yard inexpensive polyester or $4,000 /yard vicuņa wool. Humbled to have access to these fora--such a remarkable resource!

Thank you for this resource. I've adored vintage fashion since I was a young girl and I've just started collecting vintage pattern books, so I was happy to see that this was still available!

Thank you for posting this, Tailoress.  I like that blue fabric, too...and it made me laugh as well.  Found myself trying to figure out which era I like better; something about 1939.  Great resource.
