I'm just writing my CV in Italian and having a few translation difficulties, if there's anyone who could let me know what:

Under-cutter (sotto-taglierina doesn't sound quite right)

Trimmer

is in Italian, that would be grand!

Thanks in advance.

Zandercook good morning !

I am Italian, and could help you, if you explain me, in other words, what a Under cutter is and what a trimmer is.

Sounds like someone who help the cutter, somebody who is going to be a cutter in the future.

Is this correct ?

And a trimmer ? What does he do ?

Ciao,

Gatto

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Undercutter is, as far as I know, the assistant to head head cutter.

and then the trimmer is the person who get the fabric when it's been cut, and organises it all in to bundles with the canvas, lining, buttons, etc etc for the tailors to make.

Hey!

The direct translation of cutter is tagliatore.

I take it undercutter will be: assistente tagliatore?

I'm italian and I'm an apprentice trouser maker, hope this helps!

So, after a talk with a friend of mine, it seems there are:

Piccinino: a very joung person, used to be child 7-10 years old, that started to learn the job. I do think it does not exist anymore in Europe.

After 3 or 4 years of practice he became:

Mezzo Lavorante: person who take the  different pieces of the jacket and prepare it for the first or the second trying-on

Lavorante: the person who finishes the jacket after the second trying on.

I think you could  translate trimmer as: Lavorante

and cutter as: Tagliatore.
