It doesn't look at all good if you ask me.

That's because it wasn't made to be buttoned that way. A real pity that this "habit" became a style element.

The coat wasn't cut to be buttoned at waist level. That's why there is tightness causing diagonal drags around the bottom button.

I am also not a fan of proliferating extra decorative buttons or buttonholes for show on the pretence that it is something magical that only iGents and cognoscenti appreciate. They waste hours discussing the extra show button(hole), mostly because they don't really understand what it is.

If you really wanted to, you could do the same thing with a button-two DB coat and add an extra decorative buttonhole in a similar fashion:

Hey, here is one from Caraceni (on the right), a button-one show-3 (or is it button-one show 5 ? I've never understood this English classification, I prefer systems when we count funtionnal buttons and rows of button), with two decorative buttonholes !

Never liked this habit of closing the lowest button only.
I know that the Caraceni coats are made to be worn even this way, but there is too much pulling at that button for my taste.

The original way of wearing the DB "reefer" jacket in nautical style (by Loro Piana):
