As many will have noticed, there have been a number of changes to the forum. Amongst these is the creation of a basic and advanced apprentice's forum. I also have a bespeaker's Cloth Forum to keep the Warp & Woof strictly professionals only.

I also experiment with some new software settings, which didn't work out. I ended up putting everyone on moderator review. This has been fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

You should get rid of that editing hint, if someone wants to change a post.

There is a time limit imposed to the edit function. After three days standard members can no longer edit a post. As a member becomes more senior, the duration of time within which a post can be edited increases. Seniority is either earned or honorary. You can earn it by having a higher post count. Known members of the trade are honorarily given a more senior Professional status.

A number of major changes have now taken place.

1. Only members with a Professional or Apprentice status can post in the Technical and Professional Fora. These are now Professional only areas. If you are a tailor or a related industry person please let me know so you can be conferred Professional status. All members of the tailoring business along with members of the tailoring supplies trade, garment manufacturing, outfitting (shoes/ties/socks/gloves etc) and textiles industry are entitled to being upgraded to Professional status.

2. Only members who have been conferred Professional or Apprentice status are able to post in the Advanced Apprentices' Forum

3. All other homesewers are restricted to the Basic Apprentices' Forum when discussing cutting and tailoring. Those who are considered advanced enough by a moderator will be conferred Apprentice status. Discussions of coatmaking are no longer permitted in the Basic Apprentices' Forum

However, all members from outside the trade with a special interest in tailoring remain highly welcome, including connoisseurs of fine tailoring, and there are specialised areas that have been created for your enjoyment. Everyone remains very welcome here and all members are encouraged to participate in those fora.
