hi
i have some nice silk to make me a tie
i would like to do it like the one from napoli i have

but i am not sure how to cut /fold this so i can sew it neatly on a machine in one go?

Zokitar,
It's hard to describe how to sew it so that you get a 1/4 or 3/8 border as pictured but David Page Coffin has a nice downloadable PDF that explores custom tie making. If you pm him or search for it, you will learn a great deal. I have it and it helped me advance from a novice to an intermediate in making my 7 fold ties. I have self tipped one of that sort and it turned out well.
I have not self tipped any other ties, but in his booklet he describes his process well and it does work. I don't know that professional tie makers do it that way, but it does work.http://myvirtualwork...es-at-home.html
