hello c&t forum,

i'm looking for some help with sourcing fabrics in sydney (and melbourne).

i'm a menswear designer in sydney, and i'm looking for suiting and shirting fabrics from wholesalers, agents and suppliers.

so far, i'm aware of davisha, galleria tessuti, dormeuil, holland & sherry, guabell, imperial textiles. these have provided me with some great options but there are still a few gaps.

- i am still trying to find more diverse and brighter colours of suiting; wool blends with linen, cotton and silk; cotton suiting; shirting in various blues

any help you are able to offer me would be very much appreciated.

very best,

sydney designer

Holland Sherry & Dormeuil both have quite a lot of bright colors & vibrant designs. I would suggest you have a look at the whole range of books. It might be that you might have not had an opportunity to go through the whole range.
Please have a look at the following Bunches:

Holland & Sherry
H&S 1217
H&S 1127
H&S 1120
H&S 1216

You can also view their collections on:

Zegna & VBC too have bunches that you should have a look at.

All of the above do make the combinations of wool, cotton, silk, etc you seek.

Some great fabric books are with Michael Ferns of Imperial Textiles and, although they are almost impossible to get a hold of, Tony Wain has great books from Scabal and Loro Piana etc. As for cotton shirting, speak to Robert Antonelli of Tribe Textiles. Regards, N

In Sydney try this link.

I have been buying bits from them for years. Coates and Rasant threads from the 1st floor, fabric on rolls from the 2nd floor. I don't think they are into suiting material but they do have a very wide range of fabrics.

If you are looking for Italian shirting cloths you can try contacting Robert Antonelli on 0403 870 199. He is the agent for Canclini in Australia and he is a really really great guy.

For wool, I would recommend Michael Ferns of Imperial Textiles latest book which has a range called Portofino which I think it very on trend at the moment.
