Hello,

the sleeves of one mohair suit that I own are peeling.

You could see it on the photo (the suit in the middle).

How should I handle this situation?

-> Do nothing and live with it until the sleeves get holes and go to the tailor to exchange the sleeves?

-> Or do something in order to prevent further peeling?

The fabric is very light (ca. 200g) and labeled as Vitale Barberis Canonico Superfine Cape Mohair.

Is this condition normal for such light mohair fabrics?

This was my first bespoke suit and I had no idea about fabrics. I asked for something that I could wear while dancing without feeling too hot and the tailor suggested this fabric. Nowadays I would ask for fresco.

Best regards and thank you for your help!

Hristo

Hi Hristo,

If I am not mistaken, the hairs which are coming out are from the lining underneath. This happens as the fabric is loosely woven, especially mohair.

All you have to do is stick one hand inside the sleeve & hold the lining, then gently pull the top fabric away with your other hand, the threads will get drawn back in.

Let me know if this helps.

Best Regards
