a client brought me a poncho. It is a present from her grandmother. It is nearly a circle and has a hood.
The edges are lined with fur - I think it is mink. The fabric is a double face and it has pockets.
It can be worn on each side.
The girl is a slender 38 size and she is real drowning in this coat.
I want to take voulume out of it and maybe some length. Do you think it could work? (it is much to unpick).

I wondered about whether there would be alterations all up and along the shoulder to really size it down but in reality that would be a complete remake, and likely too expensive or time consuming. Otherwise, what you have marked in red would work as an easier fix to reduce the fullness in the circumference and overall volume.

It seems more cape than poncho.

Maybe it belongs to a museum, and what the person wants, make something new.

A cape is in my opinion something with slits where the arms go through. This is not the case here.
I will baste it and let the customer decide if she wants (and pay) it. Thanks!
