How to fix this buttonhole problem?

Can you check this picture and advise me what is the best thing to do with this buttonhole?

I won't ask about the cause.


It doesn't need fixing, just clip off the gimp and pull both ends of the buttonhole so the tiny end disappears.


Or thread the gimp into a needle and attempt to pass it back through the stitches. 


The first is easier I'd say.

for the second alternative: pass the needle through the stitches before threading...
